44 TROON GOLF TRAVEL eMAGAZINE TROON GOLF TRAVEL eMAGAZINE 45 MAGAZINE Utahs Red Ledges By Tom Mackin MOMENTUM IN THE MOUNT AINS Over half of the 1200 homesites planned for Red Ledges have been sold primarily during the past four years Its been a long journey but theres now a vibrant and growing community that his father is very proud of according to Mitchel Burns vice president COO Red Ledges Land Development Inc Hes a pretty patient man Burns said of his father He lives in Florida full time now but is building a new home here and visits Red Ledges every month He always drives on every piece of asphalt in the community every day when hes here sometimes twice a day Hes excited about it and likes to see everything Its in his blood A FAMILY AFFAIR Theres plenty to see throughout the 2000 acre property A Club Commons area features a clubhouse pools tennis courts where play has doubled over the past year thanks to kids camps adult clinics and cardio tennis sessions and an equestrian center Other activities have blossomed too including walking and hiking clubs yoga classes and cooking groups The fitness facility has doubled in size and a new yurt with ping pong foosball and video games was built to serve as a hangout spot for kids Its all become a place where people really want to be said the younger Burns The same can be said of the golf The Jack Nicklaus Signature layout named Best New Private Course in the U S by GOLF Magazine in 2009 offers a scenic and demanding routing Thats why the introduction last year of a Nicklaus designed 12 hole par 3 Golf Park with two different sized holes on each green has turned out to be the perfect non intimidating complement to its predecessor The first course here is a strong golf course said Nicklaus last summer at the P ERSISTENCE PAYS OFF in both real estate and golf Just ask Tony Burns and Nolan Archibald The two developers spent 33 years acquiring 27 different pieces of land that form Red Ledges in Heber City Utah 15 minutes from Park City and just under an hours drive from Salt Lake City A decade after opening real estate sales at the four season mountain community are booming
